Good Company, a Comfortable Room and the Rhythms of Everyday Life
Hoi Yan came together in Sha Tin from a simple observation: many older adults in Hong Kong live with more space around them than they would choose. Families are nearby but busy. Former colleagues have scattered. The routines that once structured a week — work, commute, shared meals — have faded, and something quieter has taken their place.
We set out to offer something different: a community where residents can move at their own pace, share tea with neighbours, enjoy Cantonese opera on a Wednesday afternoon and have a comfortable room to return to when they want quiet. Nothing is required. Everything is available.
The name Hoi Yan carries both warmth and openness — qualities we try to reflect in everything from the furnishings to the way our staff speak with residents and their families.

Residence Director
Lai-Ching has spent two decades working with senior communities across Hong Kong, and joined Hoi Yan to shape the kind of place she would feel comfortable recommending to her own family.
Chan Kwok-Wai
Programme Coordinator
Kwok-Wai oversees the weekly cultural and social calendar. A former community arts worker, he brings thoughtful programming that residents genuinely look forward to.
Lam Mei-Yuk
Resident Services Lead
Mei-Yuk is often the first person new residents meet, and the one families call with questions. She takes that responsibility quietly but seriously.

All staff complete induction covering resident dignity, communication and emergency response. Ongoing development sessions are held each quarter.
